ABOUT THE UKBFF
The United Kingdom Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation (UKBFF) is affiliated to the European Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (EBFF) and the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (IFBB), which is the largest Bodybuilding and Fitness federation in the world.
At the UKBFF Qualifying events and the British Finals, there are the following categories open to UKBFF members:
The category Men's Classic Bodybuilding has a height to weight restriction. It has been very successful and is growing every year.
The Bikini category was introduced for the 2011 qualifiers and has become very popular,
The winners of the men's weight classes in the UK Finals in October each receive the UK Class Title of British Champion and compete against each other for the Overall title and the right to apply for a pro-card. Pro status will only be granted if the athlete is a UK citizen.
The route to a pro card for the ladies is through the European and World Championships. The winners of the women's categories in UK Finals have the right to compete for the UKBFF in these international events. If they place in the top 3, they will have the possibility to apply for a pro card.
On the international front, the UKBFF send teams to the IFBB European Championships and the IFBB World Championships. All international amateur competitions are drug tested. The UKBFF Executive Committee has the final say which athletes will represent the UK. The athletes that are chosen will be drug tested.
A competitor finishing in the top 3 in the I.F.B.B. Amateur European or World Championships, or finish in the top 5 in their class at the Arnold Amateur Classic, can apply to the UKBFF Executive Committee for Pro-status. Besides winning the Men's Overall UK Title at the UK finals, this is the only other way to become a professional.
If a competitor is representing the UKBFF at the European or World Championships, all expenses are paid for by the federation.
